TSIS Recap
The 2019 Training and Simulation Industry Symposium (TSIS) held in Orlando, FL offered attendees procurement requirements from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, direct interaction with command leads and access to defense related panel sessions. NDIA Central Florida along with NTSA co-hosted this annual conference for over 600 defense industry representatives to aid in their long-term business development and strategic planning efforts.
Highlights from day one included Army briefings from Major General Maria Gervais, director of the Synthetic Training Environment Cross Functional Team and Brigadier General Michael E. Sloane, PEO, Program Executive Office, Simulation, Training and Instrumentation. A demonstration on a new cyber initiative entitled PCTE (Persistent Cyber Training Environment) was also presented to industry. Panel sessions focused on Teaming Selection and Big Data Challenges were also of major interest to TSIS attendees. And the Marines provided their acquisition outlook via Colonel Lou Lara, Program Manager for the Marine Corps Systems Command.
The Navy opened day two with an overview of their focus areas and R&D efforts led by Captain Tim Hill, Commanding Officer, Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division. Attendees were provided one on one sessions with the NAWCTSD Acquisition Team Leads followed by industry panels focused on Small Business and Cyber Impacts. The Air Force rounded out the conference with briefings from Lt Col Gary Roos and Margaret Merkle on their upcoming I/ITSEC Pitch Day followed by Colonel Robert Epstein with the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation.
